Public Reports from the HDGAS project

The results within the HDGAS project have been divided in 7 different categories, please click the category to view the available reports.
Most of the reports are confidential (CO), in those cases only a public summary is available, which can be quite short.

3. Low pressure positive ignition direct injection pure NG Engines and vehicle integration

  • CFD stoich by AVL (CO)
    Report on development and evaluation of the spark ignited stöchiometric combustion concepts in a single-cylinder engine including combustion CFD calculation.
  • CFD simulations by RICARDO (CO)
    Report of the initial specifications and design of the combustion system for new Natural Gas, Positive Ignited, Direct Injection, Lean Burn engine supported by 1D and 3D simulation as appropriate.
  • New engine components’ design by FPT (CO)
    Definition of mechanical/electric specifications, requirement and interfaces. Component design and prototype build-up for testing. Design review after testing results.

  • Prototype of new FPT cursor 13 pure NG LPDI engine by FPT (CO)
    Build-up of the new prototype engine equipped with all new technologies and components developed.
  • LNG truck prototype and test results_PubSum by IVECO (CO)
    Application and internal testing result of the new vehicle.
  • Output from Multi-Cylinder Test Bench Activity Stoichiometric-PubSum by FPT (CO)
    Base engine development focused on combustion system and emissions optimization. Engine and ATS calibration with engine performance and emission measurement.
  • Output from multi-cylinder test bench – Lean Burn – Ricardo – PubSum– Lean Burn by RICARDO (CO)
    Report of the performance and emissions of the Natural Gas, Positive Ignited, Direct Injection, Lean Burn engine installed on a test bench. There will be two parts of the report:
    – Proof of Concept (RCD, FPT)
    – Demonstration of Benefits on Test Bed (RCD, FPT)
  • Comparison Stoichiometric vs_ Lean Burn engine-FPT_PubSum by FPT (CO)
    Report and technological assessment between the two engine solutions evaluated, by the results of the analysis and testing with similar working conditions.
  • On-road testing – On-road testing of the HDGAS demonstrator vehicle of WP4 was stopped in CW19/2018 because of serious engine damage related to ignition system failure. Lack of spare parts prevented any intervention on the engine, so tests had to be stopped.Moreover, due to the fact that engine at test bench did not comply with EUVI limits, PEMS tests foreseen on the vehicle were cancelled.

5. High pressure gas injection engine and vehicle integration

  • Prototype injectors for SCE and ECU by Bosch (CO)
    First version of HPGI injector prepared for evaluation in single-cylinder tests (HW and report).
  • Optimised combustion concept by AVL (CO)
    Report on development and evaluation of two different combustion concepts in a single-cylinder engine.
  • Refined injectors for MCE by Bosch (CO)
    Refined version of HPGI injectors, taking experience from single cylinder engine tests into account, prepared for installation in a multi-cylinder engine (HW and report).
  • VehicleDemonstrationWithNewTankandFuelSystem-PubSum by VOLVO (CO) 
    Report on installation and functionality of new LNG tank, 500 bar LNG-pump and gas regulator from WP2 in the WP6 vehicle demonstrator. The fuel system will be integrated only after performance criteria are met for the fuel system components in rig tests.
  • Optimized engine meeting Euro VI in WHTC_PubSum by AVL (CO)
    Report on optimisation and calibration of a HPGI engine meeting the Euro VI emission legislation in WHTC.
  • Vehicle-demonstration-with-new-engine-PubSum by VOLVO (CO)
    Report on installation and functionality of the optimised HPGI engine in the vehicle demonstrator. The engine will be integrated only after performance criteria are met for the engine in the test rig and after the successful integration of new fuel system components.

6. Independent testing and overall assessment

  • Assessment results of indep testing by AVL (PU) 
    Report of the results from the independent testing. This report will point out if the results are in line and fulfilling the targets from the EC in terms of CO2 savings.
  • Cost comparison_PubSum by AVL (CO)
    Report on relative product cost comparison between state of the art and new technology under serial production conditions.

7. Dissemination, communication and preparative exploitation activities

  • Exploitation plan (initial version) by UNR (2016) (PU)
    This document will report on the draft Exploitation Plan. The plan will include the following elements:
    -Main objectives and Responsibilities
    -Target groups and Key actors
    -Levels of exploitation and Exploitable components
    -Communication channels and tools
    The initial version will be a living document and continuously updated. Further, the exploitation strategy will be subject at each general assembly.
  • Exploitation Plan Final by UNR (PU)
    The draft Exploitation Plan will be updated according to the market developments and identification of potential users of the results.
  • Dissemination plan (initial version) by UNR (PU)
    The Dissemination Plan will be prepared in order to maximise the potential impact of the project results. In there specific target groups and related specific dissemination activities will be presented.
  • Dissemination plan (final version) by UNR (PU)
    The Dissemination Plan will be prepared in order to maximise the potential impact of the project results. In there specific target groups and related specific dissemination activities will be presented.
  • Flyer by UNR (PU)
    Flyer with general project information for dissemination in first phase of the project to be released.
    A short report will describe the Flyer and describe the targeted audiance and use of the flyer.
  • Newsletters by UNR (PU) – expected in April 2018
    Newsletters will be created as HTML e-mail newsletters with links to the HD-GAS website for more detailed information. At least 3 will be created (M10, M22, M36), most likely the frequency will be higher. A copy of all newsletters are bundled in this report.
  • Project website and partner restricted part by UNR (PU)
    The website will be designed, and a graphical project identity will be composed of visual elements that aim to represent the project. The graphical identity will include logo, fonts, colours and templates for presentations and text documents. effort for the members of the consortium. Templates includes reports, presentations, logo, database for Dissemination (stakeholders, interest groups, contact details). A short report will describe the website content and the templates.
